Interviewer 1 [John Smith]: Georgia, thank you so much for joining us today. To start off, could you tell us a bit about how you got into triathlon?

Georgia Taylor-Brown: Oh, it’s my pleasure, John. Well, I started with swimming at a young age. My dad was a swimmer, and I guess it runs in the family. Around the age of 15, I began running more seriously, and it wasn’t long before I was introduced to triathlon. I loved the idea of combining different disciplines, and it just grew from there.

Interviewer 2 [Emma Johnson]: That’s fascinating! What do you find most challenging about balancing the three sports?

Georgia Taylor-Brown: The most challenging part is definitely managing the training load for all three disciplines. Each sport requires specific skills and endurance, so it’s about finding the right balance. There’s also the mental aspect of staying focused and motivated across different types of training.

John Smith: You’ve had some incredible successes, including your Olympic medal. Can you share a memorable moment from your career?

Georgia Taylor-Brown: One of the most memorable moments has to be winning silver at the Tokyo Olympics. It was a surreal experience, especially considering the challenging circumstances leading up to the event with the pandemic and everything. Standing on the podium and seeing the British flag was incredibly emotional and rewarding.

Emma Johnson: Speaking of challenges, how did you cope with the disruptions caused by the pandemic?

Georgia Taylor-Brown: It was tough. The uncertainty and the lack of competitions were hard to deal with. But it also gave me a chance to focus on my training without the pressure of constant racing. I worked on my weaknesses and came out stronger, both physically and mentally.

John Smith: Training must be intense. Could you walk us through a typical training day?

Georgia Taylor-Brown: Sure! A typical day usually starts with an early swim session, followed by breakfast. Then it’s onto the bike for a few hours, and I finish with a run. There’s also strength and conditioning work in the gym. Recovery is crucial, so I make sure to get plenty of rest and proper nutrition.

Emma Johnson: How do you stay motivated during tough training sessions or races?

Georgia Taylor-Brown: Motivation can be challenging, but I try to keep my goals in mind. I also break down my training into smaller, manageable parts and celebrate the small victories along the way. Support from my team, family, and friends also keeps me going.

John Smith: Lastly, what advice would you give to young athletes aspiring to be triathletes?

Georgia Taylor-Brown: I’d say, enjoy the journey and be patient. It’s a tough sport that requires dedication and hard work. Focus on your strengths, but don’t neglect your weaknesses. Most importantly, have fun and stay passionate about what you do.
